How shall artists and designers engage productively with the current crisis, when issues of environmental sustainability and social justice are so intimately intertwined? The very notion of problem solving may be misguiding, as we simultaneously prepare for great transformational challenges and confront our entanglement in ever more complex webs of interdependencies. Responding to crisis may require a thorough re-examination of our place in the world, before we can assemble and leverage new forms of creative agencies. What kind of social, economic, political and institutional processes should we seek to discover and possibly upset, if we are to invent new ways of „living well within planetary boundaries“? Responding to crisis may change our understanding of art, design, science and politics. It may change what we think we know and believe we are. Reflecting on the development of the Einstein Center Climate Change (ECCC) and its future challenges, we will ask how to best participate in a future we still can shape together. Whatever our role will be, it ´s time to get wicked.
